Thesatka matka open to close blueberry planting base in Huopu Village, Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China’s Sichuan Province has become a cornerstone of the local rural revitalization efforts of agricultural innovation and strategic planning. Blueberry planting has significantly contributed to poverty reduction and economic development, transforming the lives of many local villagers.

Historically dependent on low-value crops, the village has seen a remarkable increase in income levels thanks to the lucrative blueberry market. Blueberries, known for their high market demand both domestically and internationally, offer a much higher return on investment compared to traditional crops.

The local government, in partnership with agricultural experts, provided training and resources to farmers, enabling them to adopt best practices in blueberry cultivation. This included soil preparation, pest management, and efficient harvesting techniques. As a result, the blueberry yields have been impressive, ensuring a steady and substantial income for the farmers. Many households, previously living below the poverty line, have now achieved financial stability, with some even expanding their operations.
